SERPInsight

Internal Link Counter

Optimize your site structure and link equity. Scan any page to extract, count, and categorize all internal and external hyperlinks.

We strictly crawl the public HTML to find <a> tags. No data is stored.

The SERPInsight Link Counter

Internal links are the wiring of your website. They connect your content, distribute authority (PageRank), and help Google understand your site structure.

Auditing links manually is tedious. Our tool automates the process by scanning your entire page DOM, extracting every anchor tag, and categorizing them based on their destination host to help you optimize crawlability.

How our tool works

  • 1

    HTML Parsing

We fetch the raw HTML of your URL and parse the Document Object Model (DOM) to find all <a> elements.

  • 2

    Host Analysis

We compare the link's hostname against your input URL to detect if it's Internal (same site) or External (outbound).

  • 3

    Data Extraction

We extract the visible Anchor Text and the raw href destination for your review and export.

Understanding Link Metrics

Internal Links

Links pointing to other pages on your own domain. Crucial for spreading link equity and helping bots crawl your site.

External Links

Links pointing to other domains. Linking to authoritative sources can improve your content's trustworthiness.

Anchor Text

The clickable text of a link. It provides context to search engines about the content of the destination page.

Relative Paths

URLs like /about-us. These are automatically classified as Internal links by our system.

Link Equity

Also known as "Link Juice". Internal links help distribute the authority earned by your homepage to deeper pages.

User Experience

A clear internal linking structure helps users navigate your website and reduces bounce rates.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this tool crawl my whole website?
No. This tool is a page-level analyzer. It scans the single URL you input to report on the links found specifically on that page.
How do you determine Internal vs External?
We compare the hostname of your Input URL with the hostname of every link found. If they match (or if the link is relative), it's Internal. If the hostnames differ, it's External.
Are "Nofollow" links counted?
Yes. We extract all standard <a> tags regardless of their rel attribute. Future versions will include a specific Nofollow filter.
